What is an EMDR Intensive at Bisson Wellness, Inc.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Intensives allow clients to engage in lengthy sessions of EMDR therapy to more rapidly address and resolve symptoms that have developed in response to having lived through difficult or traumatic events. An intensive will last approximately 6 hours, with a 1-hour follow-up session approximately 1 month after the intensive. Some clients will benefit from scheduling more than 1 intensive, depending on their goals.
Benefits of EMDR Intensives: Rapid Results and Cost/Time Effectiveness
- Intensives eliminate having to work within the confines of health insurance companies that limit outpatient therapy sessions to 60 minutes. This model leads to more rapid symptom resolution.
- Intensives allows us to remain completely focused on the identified goal and eliminates the need to manage daily stressors that emerge in between weekly sessions that often cuts into reprocessing time. More time is focused on reprocessing, saving both time and money.
- Both the cost/time investment AND the symptom resolution is up-front, as opposed to spread out over months or years.
Who Chooses EMDR Intensives
- Clients seeking to address a single incident traumatic event (i.e. – accident, injury, assault).
- Clients seeking to address a recent or ongoing difficult event (i.e. – vicarious trauma)
- Clients seeking to address a more complex history of childhood or adult abuse or neglect and are able to commit to several days of Intensives
- Clients whose schedules, commitments, or travel make it difficult to commit to weekly sessions
- Clients who are seeking more rapid resolution of symptoms
